One Day of Service
September 14, 2019
Each year Muscogee Lodge preforms a Day of Service for the community. This year are project is TBD, but check out what we have done in the past below!
Who: The Palmetto Conservation Foundation (PCF) is a non-profit organization that supports conservation efforts through South Carolina. One of their most impressive efforts is the "Finish the Trail" Campaign to complete the Palmetto Trail from the Mountains to the Sea!
What: We will be helping complete the boardwalk along the Wateree Passage of the Palmetto Trail. This involves completing decking and railing along a one mile section of the trial. The lead volunteer for this effort is Furman Miller, a long-time member of Muscogee Lodge.
Where: We will meet at the Foxville Road trailhead in the vicinity of Wedgefield, SC (grid coordinates: 33.850857, -80.554619). From this location we will be transported to the work area on the Palmetto Trail. A marked up map of the Wateree Passage of the Palmetto Trial is provided below.
When: We need to meet at the Foxville Road trailhead by 09:00 on Saturday morning, 9 September 2017. We anticipate being complete by 15:00 Saturday afternoon.
BRING: everyone needs to wear work clothes (long pants recommended) and bring a bag lunch, water bottle, gloves, and bug spray (you are in the swamp). Tools are provided, however if you want to bring your own cordless drill, impact wrench, hammer, of pry bar that would be helpful.
