2008 Camp Barstow High Adventure Programs |
Are you an older Scout between the ages of 14 and 20? Are you tired of going to Summer Camp and having to deal with all of the obnoxious new Scouts? Are you looking for something different and thrilling to do this summer? If you answered YES to any or all of these questions, then the High Adventure Program at Camp Barstow is for you! This year Camp Barstow will be host to 2 count them 2 unique High Adventure Programs! The first being the Island War Canoe Trek, and the second being the new Lake Murray Sailing Adventure! Boy Scout Resident Camp Information |
Are you a Scout with nothing to do this summer, and want to have some fun!? Then, sign up today for the 2008 Camp Barstow Summer Camp Program. Currently there are openings during the 3rd week of Boy Scout Resident Camp July 7th thru July 12th and we would love to have you join us for this exciting opportunity! Don't have a Troop that wants to attend Summer Camp, but you want to still come? Then we have the solution for that as well, sign up to be a Provisional Camper during the 3rd week of Boy Scout Resident Camp. The dates of employment would be April 18th thru April 20th and from June 7th thru July 13th. Positions in most departments are still open, and we NEED a few good Scouts or Scouters to help fill those positions! 2008 Dixie Workday |
Are you going to Dixie? If NOT, there is still time to sign up at the Council Service Center. If you ARE going to then you need to know that there will be a Dixie Prep Day out at Camp Barstow on Saturday April 12th, at the Shotgun Range, this day will be used to plan and practice some of the Quest Events, as well as finalize all plans before leaving to go to Dixie. Camp Barstow Improvements |
Have you been to Camp Barstow lately? If not, you might not recognize it due to some ongoing improvements. Since last June things have changed, including some major improvements of the Shooting Sports Areas, and the beginnings of a COPE Course. Other such improvements have been some trail work, a staff shelter, re-mulching of some landscape, and various other improvements. Things continue to change around Camp and Ranger Dave welcomes any help that he can get to help upkeep roads, mowing, building maintenance, and other general maintenance issues around camp. 2008 Shooting Sports Weekend |
Once again Camp Barstow will host the Shooting Sports Camporee May 2nd - 4th. At this event the new five-stand shooting platform will be envield and ready for use, also the archery range will have permenant targets up and ready for use. These improvements to the Shooting Sports facilities are few of many new improvements made to Camp Barstow. For the first time since the opening of Sea Base in Florida the Indian Waters Council will be sending a Council Contengent to Sea Base consisting for four (4) crews. Currently, Muscogee Lodge has fourteen (14) Arrowmen signed up to attend AC5, of those one (1) is going to George Washington - Jefferson and thirteen (13) are going to Bridger Teton. We need roughly eleven (11) more individuals to sign up to become a Trailblazer Council, and to get us fifty (50) points towards Lodge of the Year, by April 24th, so sign up TODAY!
