Imagine a typical Muscogee Lodge Fellowship times 11, and you have a Dixie Fellowship. This once a year gathering is for all of the lodges in section SR-5 and is held at different venue every year that cooresponds with each lodge in a rotation. This year we travel to Camp Coker and the Dixie Fellowship is hosted by Santee Lodge.
2014 Dixie Delegate Information
Revised on 22 April 2014
April 25-27, 2014
When & Where:
The 2014 Dixie Fellowship will be held on April 25-27, 2014 at Camp Coker.
The emergency phone number while we are at Camp Coker is (803) 606-9959. Please use extreme discretion and only call this number in an absolute emergency.
Annual BSA Health and Medical Record:
We MUST have a current Annual BSA Health and Medical Record (parts A & B) for each delegate to Dixie. You can download the form HERE. We only need parts A & B of the current (2013) form. This does NOT require a doctor's signature.
Fortunately the National Office is making this easier. The current version of the Annual BSA Health and Medical Record form is a fillable PDF. We would strongly recommend that you fill it in and save a copy on your computer. You can then go in each year and edit the form. This new form also allows for digital signatures.
We would like to get as many of the Annual BSA Health and Medical Record forms as possible BEFORE we leave. Please send completed forms to the Scout Office at:
MAIL: Indian Waters Council, ATTN: Muscogee Lodge,
715 Betsy Drive, Columbia, SC 29210
Travel Plans to Dixie:
We are renting two - 15 passenger vans for Dixie!
We will need at least four adults to drive the two vans (two adults per van). We will also need additional vehicles to transport the contingent to Dixie. If you can drive your vehicle or if you can help with one of the vans, please contact Michael Farrell (phone: 803-397-2643 or Michael Farrell).
We recognize that leaving at (4:30 PM) 5:00 PM on a work/school day means Scouts will have to get out of school early and adults will have to leave work early. In order to get to Camp Coker in time for the Lodge to set up and be ready for the opening campfire we need to be on the road before rush hour traffic. We apologize for the inconvenience but we feel it is necessary to get the majority of the Muscogee Lodge contingent to the Dixie Fellowship on time.
Everyone MUST be in full "class-A" uniform during the trip to and from Dixie. No supper will be provided and we do not plan to stop for supper. You should eat before you arrive or bring a bag supper that does not require refrigeration. There will be a "heavy" cracker-barrel on Friday night.
The group will meet at the Scout office. You may arrive at this location anytime after (3:30 PM) 4:00 PM and must arrive no later than 4:20 PM. We will depart promptly at 4:30 PM and head to Dixie with an expected arrival time of about 7:00 PM. The Dixie Chairman (Stuart Parks) and Dixie Adviser (Michael Farrell) will be in charge of checking in the group.
Once at Camp Coker the contingent will have until the opening show at 8:30 PM to get set up and again after the show to finish set up. There will be a mandatory meeting in the campsite at 7:30 PM of all delegates to give delegates their ditty bags, meal cards, spirit items, shirts, etc. We will then go to the show as a group.
Departure on Sunday:
We will leave camp immediately after the closing show at approximately 10:30 AM. We will ALL stop at the rest area on I-20W around Lugoff, take a bathroom break, distribute pre-order items, and give folks a chance to call home to announce our estimated return time. No one is to leave until the last car has arrived at the rest area and is ready to leave. Please do not make any personal plans before 2:00 PM on Sunday.
You can't go to Dixie?
Pre-Orders & Dixie Supplies:
If you pre-ordered Dixie supplies (patches, mugs, etc.), there will be two opportunities to pick up your supplies. The first opportunity will be during the Dixie Fellowship at a time and location announced at the 7:30 p.m. Friday meeting and the second will be on Sunday at our rendezvous meeting discussed above. You are encouraged to wait until Sunday to pick up your supplies. If you get them during Dixie, you assume full responsibility for anything lost, damaged, or stolen. There will also be a limited number of Dixie supplies available at the trading post at Dixie. Historically, these sell out very quickly, so you are encouraged to make your purchases at your earliest opportunity.
What to bring to Dixie:
You should bring to Dixie the same types of items that you would to any other fellowship. You will need to bring a tent, or arrange to share a tent. No one over 17 may share a tent with anyone under 18 unless it is a parent and their son. Dixie is a uniformed event. Only bring BSA uniforms and clothing except for any clothing that is directly associated with the delegation spirit theme.
Keep in mind also that April is a very unpredictable month for weather. Pack accordingly.
Delegates will be camping in personal tents. Please bring a tent or plan to share one with someone else. Of course, youth and adults may not stay in the same tent (except for parent/child). For purposes of housing, "adult" determination is based on the age of 18, as is BSA policy.
Delegate List: (Revised 22 April 2014)
As Dixie approaches some individuals may not be able to attend so a slot will open up. As the host lodge receives the required forms to let them know how many people will be attending, they will often times divide the remaining slots that they did not fill to those lodges needing them, so if you are not on the list above, there is a very good chance you will be able to attend.
