More information about the 2010 Dixie Fellowship will be added in the weeks ahead; stay posted for the latest and most up to date Dixie Delegate Information!

Dixie Prep Day

The 2010 Dixie Prep Day will be held from 09:00 until 11:30, April 10th at Saxe Gotha Church in Lexington. As a special incentive, delegates that attend the Dixie Prep Day will have an opportunity to purchase a Dixe patch!

When & Where:

The 2010 Dixie Fellowship will be held on April 23-25 at Camp Old Indian near Travelers Rest, SC .

Emergency Information:

The emergency phone number at Camp Old Indian is (864) 895-8989. Please use extreme discretion and only call this number in an absolute emergency. It is helpful to know the Lodge name and number when calling. (Muscogee #221)

Travel Plans to Dixie:

The group will meet and depart from the Scout office on Friday, 23 April 2010. Plan to arrive between 2:30 pm and 3:45 pm. We will depart at 4:00 pm and head to Dixie with an expected arrival time of about 6:30 pm. All drivers to Dixie must be 21 years of age or older. Everyone MUST be in full "class-A" uniform during the trip to and from Dixie.

No supper will be provided and we do not plan to stop for supper. Make sure you eat before you arrive or bring a bag supper that does not require refrigeration. There will be a "heavy" crackerbarrel on Friday night at Dixie.

The Dixie Chairman (Brandon Poole) and Dixie Adviser (Dave Cartledge) will be in charge of coordinating transportation of the group. Once at Camp Old Indian the contengent will have until the opening show at 8:30 pm to get set up.

There will be a mandatory meeting in the campsite at 7:00 pm of all delegates to give delegates their ditty bags, meal cards, spirit items, shirts, etc. We will then go to the show as a group.

One more travel note, on the lighter side; many of you have purchased the OA car flags and car magnets that we have sold in the trading post. If you have them, bring them with you and we'll decorate the cars for the road trip! If you do not have flags, and are a driver and want some, they are available at the Scout Shop.

Departure on Sunday, 25 April 2010:

We will leave camp immediately after the closing show at approximately 10:30 am. It is important that we stay somewhat as a group on our return trip and not get too spread out. We will stop at the South Carolina rest are on I-26 at mile marker 63 to take a bathroom break, distribute pre-order items, and give folks a chance to call home to announce our estimated return time. No one is to leave until the last car has arrived at the rest area and is ready to leave. Please do not make any personal plans before 1:00 pm on Sunday.

You can't go to Dixie?

If you find that you will not be able to attend Dixie any time prior to our departure, contact Stan Haines (phone: 803-479-0801 or e-mail) or Dave Cartledge (phone: 803-782-0828 or e-mail). Although Dixie fees are not refundable, we may be able to transfer your fee to another Arrowman who wishes to attend, thereby making a refund possible. Likewise, if you know of others wishing to attend Dixie, have them contact Stan Haines or Dave Cartledge and they will be added to the delegation or placed on a waiting list in case such cancellations occur.

Pre-Orders & Dixie Supplies:

If you pre-ordered Dixie supplies (patches, mugs, etc.), there will be two opportunities to pick up your supplies. The first opportunity will be during the Dixie Fellowship at a time and location announced at the 7:00 pm Friday meeting and the second will be on Sunday at our rendezvous meeting discussed above. You are encouraged to wait until Sunday to pick up your supplies. If you get them during Dixie, you assume full responsibility for anything lost, damaged, or stolen. There will also be a limited number of Dixie supplies available at the trading post at Dixie. Historically, these sell out very quickly, so you are encouraged to make your purchases at your earliest opportunity.

What to bring to Dixie:

You should bring to Dixie the same types of items that you would to any other fellowship. You will need to bring a tent, or arrange to share a tent. No one over 17 may share a tent with anyone under 18 unless it is a parent and their son. Dixie is a uniformed event. Only bring BSA uniforms and clothing except for any clothing that is directly associated with the delegation spirit theme. For headgear, please only wear one of the red and tan "221" caps, Muscogee turtle fur hats or headbands. Please do not wear any other caps besides these. We want to appear uniform and sharp.

Keep in mind also that April is a very unpredictable month for weather. Pack accordingly.

You can also view the Dixie event rules and other information at the SR5 website at http://www.dixiefellowship.org/

Tents:

Delegates will be camping in personal tents. Please bring a tent or plan to share one with someone else. Of course, youth and adults may not stay in the same tent (except for parent/child). For purposes of housing, "adult" determination is based on the age of 18, as is BSA policy.
